Congratulations!! You have taken the first step in earning your CMP and moving your career forward.  As a South Florida Meeting and Events Professional, we want to offer you a study group to help you with the exam.  If you are an MPI member, we offer a discount for the course as a benefit of Membership.

    SFMPI will host an introduction to the CMP Study Group and the CMP examination on Wednesday, September 29.  The Study Group sessions will be held in a central location in Fort Lauderdale – to be determined.

    CMP Study sessions are approximately 2 – 2.5 hours in length each time, and will be held based upon the following schedule.  There is some flexibility to change the schedule based upon a consensus from everyone participating in the study group and availability of course instructors.  The class does not have an online or speakerphone attendance element.

    The costs for the study group is $150.00 for MPI members and $200.00 for non members payable to SFMPI and should be mailed to:

    The CMP
    The foremost certification program of today's meetings, conventions and expositions industry, the CMP or Certified Meeting Professional designation recognizes those who have achieved the industry's highest standards of professionalism.  The CMP defines the professional standard of experience and expertise required for planning and execution of effective and successful meetings.

    CMP Program Goals

    • Increase the professionalism of meeting managers in any component or sector of the industry. 
    • Identifying a body of knowledge 
    • Establishing the level of knowledge and performance required for certification.

    CMP Requirements

    • Current employment in the meetings industry 
    • Responsibility and accountability for the completion of meetings 
    • Three (3) years meeting management experience 
    • Completion of a 15 page application and score at least 90 points out of 150 points 
    • Pass 165 multiple choice question exam within 3.5 hours

    The CMP Exam
    165 Questions covering 27 meeting management functions.  Each of the 27 functions are affected by or relevant to the conditions under which meetings are organized.  The exam will assess an individual’s knowledge in terms of meeting management functions and the conditions associated with those functions.
